A pale avenue leads between tall, dark tree trunks in “Cherry blossom” by Stine Maj. Pink, purple and cream blossoms gather into a dense canopy above the path. Winding branches emerge between the flowers, connecting the treetops across the painting.
Small, broken marks of colour give the blossoms variety, contrasting with the trunks’ long vertical strokes. A warm golden sky glows behind the trees, while blue-green shrubs and darker vegetation gather around the path’s vanishing point. Fine pink and pale strokes on the ground echo the colours of the flowers above.
The scene evokes a walk beneath blossoming trees, with the open path inviting the eye further into the landscape. The square 80 × 80 cm format balances the tall trunks with the broad canopy. A springtime scene with a clear sense of depth and an interplay between dark outlines and delicate floral colours.
