Two elegant figures and tall floral arrangements come together in “A cozy day among the scent of flowers I + II” by Isabel Savannah. The work consists of two paintings, united by pale blue backgrounds and broad burgundy fields. On the left, a figure stands in a long, creamy yellow garment and matching hat. On the right, a seated figure wears orange, with a full, flowing skirt.
A tall, slender vase on the left and a lower, rounded vase on the right introduce variation between the two paintings. Orange and creamy white flowers rise on long stems among dark green leaves. Small white blossoms hang in curves from both arrangements, adding delicate details to the large, simple areas of colour.
The title invites the viewer to imagine a quiet day in the company of flowers. Minimally drawn faces and voluminous garments lend the figures a gentle, storybook quality. Isabel Savannah describes “Perfect Imperfections” as central to her artistic practice, highlighting her interest in small irregularities, emotional traces and unpolished details.
