Blue and turquoise colours flow through “Follow the stream” by Birthe Villaume. A lighter blue-violet area opens near the upper centre, surrounded by deeper blue-green fields and dark contours. Below, pale-blue strokes gather into a broad horizontal passage, meeting diagonal movements of grey-green and muted ochre.
The composition alternates between soft transitions and distinct, angular brush marks. Long dark lines run through the left side, while more branching marks spread towards the right. Small creamy accents glow among the cool shades, giving the eye resting points within the layered surface.
The title may invite the viewer to follow the changing directions of a stream, yet the subject remains abstract. Open fields of colour and darker passages may evoke currents, depths and reflections without describing a particular place. The 100 × 90 cm format brings together the movement between broad blue areas and the fine lines connecting them.
