Glowing orange and yellow flowers emerge against a misty grey background in “Fog in the garden” by Mantas Naulickas. A large, open bloom fills the left side of the painting, while smaller flowers and rounded buds rise on slender stems. The warm petals contrast sharply with the grey-white floral forms around them.
Visible brushstrokes follow the direction of the petals, giving the flowers volume and movement. Muted green leaves and darker areas between the stems create depth, while soft transitions in the background allow some shapes to stand out and others to almost disappear.
The painting balances luminous colour with subdued mist. The orange flowers draw the eye, while the quieter grey areas invite exploration of the whole composition. The 90 × 60 cm format brings the subject close and emphasises the meeting of warm and cool tones.
