A large golden crown with a blue, faceted jewel tops the geometric portrait in “The Cubic King” by Lin Jürs. The face is assembled from angular areas of brown, black, pink and cream, while turquoise, green and purple form a colourful sequence along the jaw. A large eye and pink lips stand out between the bold, dark outlines.
A separate pink eye motif floats to the right of the long neck, adding a surreal detail to the portrait. Below, a burgundy cape with golden dots meets a blue, scalloped collar and a green patterned area. The clothing’s soft curves contrast with the face’s sharp angles.
Dark blue and cream background stripes, edged in gold, provide a striking setting for the figure. The crown and frontal presentation may suggest authority and self-presentation, while the colours and displaced facial features invite a more playful interpretation. The 70 × 90 cm format emphasises the portrait’s tall, slender construction.
