Børsen’s twisting spire rises through the painting in “Børsen” by Roya Matorinia. Pale, golden and dark blue strokes emphasise its spiral shape, standing prominently before the city’s closely grouped rooftops and façades. Turquoise, green, brick red and warm ochre meet around the spire in a colourful interpretation of the architecture.
Rows of windows, curved gables and roof surfaces are rendered with short, loose brushstrokes. Dark openings contrast with the pale façades, while broad blue-green strokes create breathing space in the sky. Overlapping buildings give the scene depth without losing its freely painted character.
The vertical 60 × 80 cm format emphasises the spire’s height and brings the viewer close to the surrounding details. The painting combines a recognisable Copenhagen subject with an expressive use of colour, balancing cool blue-green tones with warm reds and golds.
