A broad, pale area opens between flowing layers of white, grey-beige and golden tones in “Kullet” by Randi Rosa. Black and dark brown trails run through the lower half and curve upwards along the right side. The contrast between dark veins and the light surface gives the composition depth and a distinct circling movement.
Dense, irregular textures meet softer, sweeping brushmarks. Small granular details follow several of the dark passages, while golden-yellow and warm brown accents interrupt the white layers. The subject may suggest mineral veins, rock formations or shifting layers of earth, while remaining abstract.
Randi Rosa accompanies the work with an imaginative story about a piece of coal that grows bored deep underground and invites liquid gold and white quartz sand to a party. Their dancing becomes so wild that the coal is swept up into the light, eventually discovering that it has become a sparkling diamond. The story gives the painting’s dark trails and pale, golden layers a humorous perspective on transformation and unexpected possibilities.

Randi Rosa
